Main subject
The main subject is pre-assessed by means of a video to be submitted. Content and formal requirements for the video: see below.
The following EP components take place in presence:
Subsidiary subject piano
Performance of two medium-difficulty piano pieces of different character
Music Theory (written and practical)
Basic knowledge of major-minor harmony, knowledge of form principles and genres, playing cadenzas
Ear Training (written)
Comprehension of intervals, chords, rhythmic and harmonic correlations, dictation of notes in one and two voices.
Conversation test
On the topics: Motivation, career orientation and basic knowledge with regard to music education in general and in particular with regard to elementary music education.
Group test
Prepared instruction of a learning group (for example, song development, musical improvisation games, body/object percussion/movement improvisation, dance or a comparable task, maximum duration 10 minutes). Please submit a written draft for this.
The video must be uploaded within the application period. In the first step, please send the application via the portal, thereafter you will receive the link to the video portal where you can upload your video.
Duration of the video
15-20 minutes
Instrumental main subject
Performance of at least 3 works of different stylistic periods (one of them composed after 1920) that show interpretive ability and technical ability. Example works for the required level of difficulty can be found below.
Main subject voice
Performance of at least 4 works of different stylistic periods (one of them composed after 1920) from the genres lied, oratorio and opera.
Applicants must be clearly identifiable. No technical adaptations are permitted within a performed piece. The video should not be older than 6 months. Piano accompaniment is optional but not required.
