Main subject
Pre-selection based on a video to be submitted. Content and formal requirements for the video: see below.
For harp, guitar, horn, trumpet, trombone, organ and drums/percussion there is no video pre-selection!
Main subject in the presence part of the qualifying examination
In the instrumental main subject, at least three works of different stylistic periods (one of them composed after 1920) are to be performed, which show the ability to interpret and the technical ability. Example works for the required level of difficulty can be found here.
Piano as compulsory subject (not required for guitarists)
Performance of two piano pieces of medium difficulty and different character.
Music Theory (written and practical)
Basic knowledge of major-minor harmony, knowledge of form principles and genres, playing of cadenzas.
Ear Training (written)
Comprehension of intervals, chords, rhythmic and harmonic correlations, dictation of notes in one and two voices.
The video must be uploaded within the application period. In the first step, please send the application via the portal, thereafter you will receive the link to the video portal where you can upload your video.
Applicants must be clearly recognisable. No technical edits are permitted within a performed piece. The video should not be older than 6 months. Piano accompaniment is optional. Works performed in the video may be part of the repertoire for the presence examination.
